Memorable Memorial Day

The holiday weekend has been wild for us. We had planned to have a cookout at the ranch, but when we went Saturday to clean and take an inventory of things we needed, Julia had an allergic reaction.

At 11, Pa Pa Don took her out to see the horses. She has been around horses a lot! I guess the petted one on the nose. When she got back her right eye was a little swollen and surrounded by hives. I gave her some benadryl and things seemed to calm down.

Jeff and Suzanne showed up and Suzanne took the girls horse back riding. Here she is getting Dakota ready to go.

And here she is riding fast with Aunt Suzanne.

They had a great time, however when they got back, poor Julia's eyes were all swollen and she had a lot of hives. After getting her out of the shower, the hives kept spreading so we decided it was time to take her to the ER.

Jeff took this shot of her right before we got in the car to head to the ER. Poor red eyes and lots of hives. As you can see, at this point she wasn't feeling very good.

At the ER. By now the meds had kicked in and she was feeling a lot better.

Later that night she was feeling a lot better! We still aren't sure what caused it, the doc thought it might be something environmental, I am praying it isn't the horses. She also had a Hershey kiss, but we have never had any trouble with those.

Since we had a huge reaction on Saturday we decided to move the cookout to our house. For some strange reason I don't have one photo, but it was lots of fun!

On Monday we took the girls to Botanica to for the opening of the butterfly house. Like last year, they had a balloon and bug show and lots to do.

And last, but not least, checking out the train.

After we got home the girls wanted to play with the neighbors who were already out. They played together for about an hour and then they wanted to come home and take a bath. Before we left the, one of the neighbors mentioned that the other kids had had a snack with PB shortly before we got there. While giving her a bath I noticed that she was starting to get hives around her mouth. We gave her some meds and she seemed to get better fairly quickly. Poor girl, I feel like I need to keep her in a bubble!

I am hoping for a much calmer week!
