So, Wednesday was another very busy day for Natalie and I. We went Christmas shopping with Grandma at Babies R Us and the Mall. We then we spent the evening with Aunt Suzanne. We had a very good time. I went to give Natalie a bath around 9 and when I flipped her over to clean her back I noticed a huge, about the size of a quarter, raised spot on her back. It was red and blue in color. I yelled for Jeff and he came and looked at it. I was freaking out. We determined that it might be a bite or sting of some kind and I called Grandma to come and look to. We decided that it was weird enough to head to the ER and have it checked out.
Of course the ER was very busy, but they got us back quickly. The doctor said it was either a bite or sting or a
hemangioma, which is a birthmark. They gave us some
Benadryl and sent us home. They told me to call her pediatrician if it didn't improve by Friday.
Well it's Friday and it isn't much better, so we just got back from the pediatrician. He also thinks it might be a bite or sting or a
hemangioma. He said it was very hard to tell the difference. If it goes away in 10 days it was a bite or sting, if not then it is a
hemangioma. If it is a
hemangioma it will go away slowly. Neither one are anything to worry about...whew!
Anyway, I thought I would post about our first real scare and ER visit.....my poor
baby girl!!
