The big ONE!

Natalie turned one on Saturday. It was an amazing, bittersweet weekend. The celebrating started on Thursday when the daycare had a party for her and her class mate Joe. I made some pumpkin cookies and the kids really liked them. Her "teachers" Ms. Desi and Ms. Cassie are so sweet. They made a really cute little board with all kinds of pictures of her and gave her some little gifts. It was so sweet.

The party continued on Friday when my dad got here from Texas and had my Nonie (my dad's mother) with him. They were both staying with us through the weekend. We took Natalie to get her one year photos taken and they were so much fun. She had three outfits, a beautiful brown and pink dress that my mom got, her ladybug Halloween costume and her diaper and cake shot. I think we got some good ones, but she didn't want to sit still at all!! She had cake everywhere and even took a bite out of the number one candle. It was so funny. That night after Natalie went to bed, we watched videos of her after her birth until she was about 3 months old. It was so much fun to see her so little. She was so very sweet.

On Saturday I made brunch for Natalie's grandma, grandpas and aunt. I made a stuffed french toast, pork loaf and a berry syrup. Jeff made some great Mimosas and we bought some fresh fruit and muffins. I have to admit it was pretty yummy! She had another cake and got to open some presents. Speaking of the cake, I wanted to do a "little pumpkin" theme, I decorated the table with all autumn things and made invitations to match, anyway, I went to get her cake and it said,"Our little pumpin is turning one". Yes, that is right, they can't spell "pumpkin". So, I asked them to fix it and below is what I got. What a hoot. She wasn't interested in the presents at all, she just wanted her Elmo CD on so she could dance and run around. She cracks me up. In the afternoon my dad put Christmas lights up on the house. The look so good. I got the new LED ones. Dad put a ton on the deck because Natalie was crazy about them!! That night we went to On the Boarder to eat and she did great. She loved the beans and even ate some tortillas and cheese. It was a great night.

On Sunday we had the big party at a mueseum here in town. It was so much fun, we were surrounded by family and friends...everyone who loves Natalie! We had pizza and of course more cake. Natalie had a great time. I still can't beleive she is one.

On Monday we had an appointment with her kidney doc. No change, the left kindey is still in her pelvis and one uretur us a little dilated. The doc said it wasn't anything she was worried about right now, but wanted to check her again in 6 months. So, another 6 months of waiting!

On Tuesday she started her new class at daycare. I was so sad. I called to check on her and they told me she was outside playing. I can't beleive that!! I didn't think she was that big yet. We took her to her pediatrician and she weighed 22lbs and was 29 inches tall - both 50%. She got two shots..:( and then we stopped by Babies R Us. We then ran home and went to eat with our neighbors. It was really fun! I think that is it.

The big one is over. I just can't beleive it, my baby, growing up. My friend Kelly did something on her blog that I loved when her son turned one, things she learned this past year. Below is my list...

1. You never know the true meaning of love until you have a baby.
2. 6 hours of sleep is really enough. That is 3, getting up to rock and then 3 more.
3. Starting your day at 6:30 (yes, even the weekends) isn't so bad, it is just more time to spend with your baby.
4. You have no idea what you did with all your time before you had the baby.
5. There is nothing harder than leaving your baby, it is like your heart isn't in your body.
6. You have never been so frustrated and so proud at the same time.
7. You celebrate everything - because everything is amazing.
8. You realize dusting, sweeping and all that other stuff is just that...stuff.
9. You can't beleive the ache you have to feel your baby in your arms every morning - for some reason the night can feel like such a long time.
10. You realize everything is perfect, just the way it is, even when it is crazy, messy and upside down. You wouldn't want it any other way.

Here are some pictures of our amazing weekend.

I got new shoes! Natalie got her first pair of tennis shoes and they are so very cute on her!

So, Natalie is now in love with her paci. It is so weird. Here she is carrying two and enjoying one. And of course she can still "cheese" with the paci in her mouth. She cracks me up!

I thought it would be really great to get a photo of Natalie and I, both in our red shirts, in front of Grammies house. You can see how well it went...

More Photos

Here are some more photos we took over the past couple of weeks. Some on a visit to Grandpa Don's and then some of Natalie just hanging out. Natalie is walking like crazy. And I just can't believe how big she is getting. Party planning is in full swing for her first birthday.

Puppy Love!

We just love our pup!
